Meta data of dryland salinity map

The salinity map for Australia was compiled by NLWRA. The map represents a compilation of dryland salinity risk and hazard mapping for 2000, 2020 and 2050. The map shows the distribution of areas considered as having either a high salinity risk or a high salinity hazard (NLWRA, 2001). The map was downloaded in coverage format with polygon topology having attribute information on assessment for the year 2000, 2020, and 2050. For delineating present potentially saline area, only those area were selected that were assessed as “high salinity hazard or risk” for the year 2000. All these selected polygons were converted to raster format with a resolution of 1000m. Thereafter, the land use pattern and cropped area was identified within the high risk salinity area (More information- Landuse metadata). The saline area under each GRDC Agro Ecological Zone for each crop type was calculated (More information- GRDC Zone metadata).
