Meta data of GRDC zones map
The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) separates grain growing into 3 regions and 14 Agro Ecological Zones:
- Northern Region: QLD Central, NSW North East/QLD South East and NSW North West/QLD South West Zones.
- Southern Region: NSW Central, NSW/Vic Slopes, Vic High Rainfall, Tas Grain, SA/Vic Bordertown-Wimmera, SA/Vic Mallee and SA Midnorth-Lower Yorke Zones.
- Western Region: WA Central, Eastern, Northern and Mallee and Sandplain Zones.
The ‘GRDC Zones’ map was provided by GRDC in shapefile format. The map was converted to coverage format and then projected to Albers equal area. For further analysis, separate maps were created for all the 14 Zones of the GRDC. The Agro Ecological Zones are based upon Statistical Local Areas (ABS).
