Sediment and nutrient supply to river links metadata

last modified 2006-10-23 12:31

The information on sediment and nutrient load to the drainage network within the GRDC zones was derived using the data set “Sediment and nutrient supply to river links”, downloaded from Department of Environment and Heritage website (DEH, 2000). The data set contains drainage network generated from the 9” (approx 250 m) digital elevation model. It is attributed with sediment and nutrient source, sink, load and delivery information. The data set is a product of the Water-borne Soil Erosion Project of the National Land and Water Resources Audit (NLWRA). The data set was downloaded in geographic coordinate system and was projected to Albers equal area projection for further analysis and clipped for the GRDC zones. Using the GRDC zones map zone number was assigned to each segment of the drainage network. Thereafter sediment and nutrient load values were aggregated for the drainage segments corresponding to GRDC zones to provide information on total sediment load in each zone.
