Soil Acidity metadata

last modified 2006-10-23 12:44

The pH map for Australia was downloaded from the NLWRA website. The map was in geographic coordinate system initially and was projected to Albers equal area projection. The dataset presents a surface of predicted pH (X 1000) of layer 1 (A Horizon - top soil) surface for the intensive agricultural areas of Australia.  Data modelled from spot observations taken by soil agencies both State and CSIRO (NLWRA, 2002). The map was further classified into seven different categories.

Thereafter using the identified cropped area (More information- Landuse metadata), the pH categories were extracted for each GRDC region (More information- GRDC Zone metadata) in the identified cropped area and area under different landuse type was calculated for each zone for each pH category.
