The meta data of Landuse map

The landuse map of Australia was downloaded from National Natural Resources Data Library (ANRDL). The landuse map indicates the agricultural and non-agricultural land uses for 1.4.1996 to 31.3.1997 with a 0.01 degree cell size (1000 m). This data set is a product of the National Land Use Mapping Project of the National Land and Water Resources Audit. The data set has 9 layers preserved independently in its value attribute table (vat) of the data set. The vat of land use theme retains the attributes of the underlying data, therefore, the user can adopt an alternative land use classification. Six classes were selected as ‘grains cropping’ area and were used for further analysis.

Landuse Cropping area

  • Sown pastures
  • Cereals excluding rice
  • Legumes
  • Oilseeds
  • Non-cereal forage crops
  • Other non-cereal crops

Two different maps indicating the above selected cropping area was prepared one with the value of 0 and 1 (0 for other land use type while 1 for the selected crops) and another one with value 1 and rest as NODATA.
